The Great Bleaching is an annual event where KAF members, but mostly administrators and moderators, change their username to an individual from the anime series Bleach. The first invocation of the event occurred in 2006. The event occurs in the month of January each year.

The name of this event was coined by Tater_Salad on 9 May, 2006, several months later.

Side banners that displayed to the left of the avatar were provided for The Great Bleaching. By putting the exact phrase "Soul Society" or "Hueco Mundo" into the "Location" field, a banner of either respective names would display in Japanese. The "Hueco Mundo" banner was added in 2008.
