KAF Messenger followed KAF IM with a server-oriented instant messaging system that was created at the end of December 2006. The network supported instant messaging, text formatting, emoticons, user statuses, invisible mode, custom away messages, chatrooms, and chatroom commands. The client was primarily web-based, using Flash's XMLSocket to connect to the chat server. However, a distributable executable was packaged using Mozilla's XULRunner.

The service died because the server script was continually killed for unknown reasons. In addition, it was not also used considerably, as it could not be plugged into Trillian, GAIM, and other multi-network instant messaging clients. It would have been preferable to run the network under Jabber, but adequate server software could not be found.
The server was written in PHP and the client was written in Actionscript and JavaScript. The network used the custom KAFUIMP (KAF User Instant Messaging Protocol) to exchange messages and login information.
