KAFU

KAFU, or KAF Underground, was a spin-off forum created by member stewie2kill near the beginning of July 2005. His goals were to fix KAF and restore it to its former glory, but the means that he did it with were questionable. stewie2kill felt that there were too many "unnecessary" suspensions and bans, that the KAF chatroom had too much bullying and that KAF needed peace. The movement evolved into getting banned members unbanned, which the administration saw as a fruitless and disastrous decision if it were to be followed through.

The administration team saw the supporters of KAFU highly questionable. It was suspected that many of the accounts were doubles of another individual (which is in violation of the rules). In one case, a member by the name of hockeyplaya0239 posted several new threads citing KAFU the day after he had joined. His reasoning was that he heard KAF was having troubles and joined to help; he had taken the advice blindly according to his testimony.

In response to all of this, sk89q set up a large yellow warning at the top of all the forum pages advising against using the ill-considered spin-off forum. The message was removed after a few days when sk89q decided that the the announcement was no longer needed.

After a public battle in the Feedback forum, stewie2kill closed down the spin-off forum and posted an apology. The KAFU incident had lasted a little less than a week.
