KAFChan was an image board that was created on 14 October 2005 by sk89q following a suggestion from guinea812. It only accepted images, and none in adult nature at first. sk89q was not particularly settled with the idea, but created it anyway, even as KAF was going through some bandwidth problems at the moment. Eventually non-worksafe boards were added, but lolicon was banned completely.
The board suffered from disuse, and eventually died on its own. It fell out of knowledge, and sk89q thought the data had also been lost too (no posts showed), but it was found months later that he had forgotten that he set a cut-off date.
The software the board used was custom and built in-house by *k89q.
The original board URL is unknown. It was moved to http://chan.keiichianimeforever.com quickly after its incarnation.
Then, on 6 August 2006, during the production of this article, the image board was re-opened under the new domain of http://img.keiichianimeforever.com. Noting that adult content was removed from the forums (except for roleplay), the KAFChan received the same consequences. The new URL was chosen because member guinea812 felt it fit more of the image board climate, seeing that many other boards are configured on the same subdomain.
